Biography
Most biographies start at the beginning of ones’ life or career and move forward in a chronological order to arrive at a place of accomplishment. I would like to start another way and tell you what I have learned from my life’s work thus far. What I have come to bank on and count on the “possibility of people”. I have added this into every equation of my work, it has NEVER let me down and often it has surprised the “heck” out of me. Instead of listing all the jobs I have done or the schools I have attended or not. I wish to speak about the opportunities I have been involved in and the greatest lessons I have learned.
Yes, I spent a great deal of my early years inside their magic walls… Where most people see a marketing giant, I got to go to work everyday and see the belief in people’s eyes… the unconditional belief in magic… Even if you’re believing in “make-believe magic” … The trick is you are believing, that kind of positivity is a great energy to grow up in.
7 super bowl half times… taught me how to become a part of a small team doing a BIG event. It taught me responsibility, how to think around corners, as well as start in a field that was new and getting bigger by the day. We had to create systems and ways to push the envelope to better ourselves. All in a 12-minute time limit (the actual time of the performed half time). Set up a show from nothing… Build it, perform it and take it away as if it had never existed all in 20 minutes… hmmm sounds like more magic to me.
Lets see, move to a foreign country… learn the language, learn the culture, the history… have enough compassion and understanding to help creative a show that is specifically not of your own culture (except for Atlanta and Salt lake) but some Americans would argue that these cultures are as different as the Greeks or Spanish! In short, find a common language and a common goal, which ten times out of ten means “the heart of the People”. When you follow that heart you never fail.
…I will believe in them everyday, when I start a show, I ask them to come with me, to add their energy, to add their passion, and once you add all the heart and soul and desire of a town, or city or country together.. that amount of love and energy only keeps multiplying until you have a BIG BANG theory… with that much love and hope behind it, all you can do is succeed.
